Women's Day - An Open Letter

"Resilience", (noun), "the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties" is the most commonly known word. Many literature experts come up with different examples and illustrations to explain the meaning, but let's explore the new dimension of it.

The first important word in the definition of resilience is "Capacity". Well, there is a divine body, who had twin kids. She would keep one of them in her sacred vast lap, and the other in the safest place of this world, yes in her shelter-like arms. And if one of the kids would make her life difficult with endless cries and shrieks, she would swap their positions and the cycle would go on till both are asleep. But this would not mean the start of the rest period of her, the sheer willpower would push her on to sew the clothes in an icy cold night. While doing so, an affectionate pair of an eye from corners would keep a check on both of them to see if any were feeling discomfort. Then, out of her unlimited love treasure, she will pluck out a mere coin by taking her single scarf off and enveloping her kids more. And as see she sees Sun coming out of the horizon, a tireless body of her would get up to do the kitchen chores and much more. Whilst everyone wakes up to the smell of omelet coming out of the kitchen, she would be showing nano- second recovery to feed them. Just to make it clear in this context, this "she" was my mother, and the kids were me and my twin brother...

Talking about the "capacity", in more evident terms, a woman does more instant multi-tasking than any man-made machine can. A girl in the shopping mall, would carry bundles of  bags, a phone she is texting on to her friend, a document file, and still would have enough of fingers or hands left to take the money out of her purse to pay the bill at the counter, and that too without any hassle.

To illustrate resilience more, the next keyword is "quick recovery". A girl would on her periods, yet still pretending it to be normal, and would be joking to her colleagues on the university route as casual as ever. A girl, in her excruciatingly painful cramps, would gleefully walk with her friends from hostel to department to take lectures, even if she did not have a proper sleep the night before.

Well, in modern times, it is a common narrative that "Miracles don't happen anymore, or even if it happens, it is once in a blue moon". Well, every woman pulls this off, not only for once but multiple numbers of times in her life. Still intrigued as to how. Well, imagine, all of your bones are cracked together simultaneously, we would fade out, wouldn't we..? And imagine, it's done forty times more, well it is insufferable even in thoughts. Well, now let me tell you, even this amount of pain is far less than what a mother goes through in her pregnancy and delivery. Ain't it a miracle? Well, more than that for sure. And talking about recovery and being resilient, I have seen mothers smile at the sight of her kid immediately afterward pulling off the miracle.

A character, often deprived of rights, confined in boundaries and denied even of her "say" in decision making, yet defiant enough, to go on against all the odds and social pressures and become a success herself. A character, resolute enough to take on the whole world all alone, yet soft enough to get hurt by a slightly harsh tone of words used by male counterparts. The character who can happily trade the whole world and much more for her beloved. A character that can bloom like a flower in springs, just by tender gestures of an unexpected bouquet, a handwritten note, or even the slight warm smile. Well, there are hundreds of "Sana Mir’s, Mariyam Mukhtyar’s, Arfa Kareem’s" around us. And I can assert that, based on my privileged experience of being with some amazing women. It's all about her providing a safer working society to express themselves and they can go on to be the leaders in society.

Happy Women's day to every queen in this universe, and wish you keep shining in life.
